My Best Friend

My best friend; there she stood
She greeted me at school
And her grades
were good.

My best friend; there she stood
A bunch new friends were introduced
And we greeted them gladly, welcomed them with open arms
The laughter - we were overcome

My best friend; there she stood
She was trying to make sure all of their days went good
She smiled, and she helped them carry their books
Even helped them go to a teacher when they misunderstood

My best friend; there she stood
As her friends get announced as the class toppers
She stares blankly, wondering how she even got here
She doesn't know, I watched her endear it for years

My best friend...there she laid
Head down in class, mentally drained
She made being a likeable friend her entire life's work
And her grades
never improved.

Poet's note: My Best Friend is a tale of an emotionally intelligent person who is able to feel things deeply being able to see the mental decay of someone, their 'best friend'; is too scared to be presented try and take on the priority of being a good friends to the ones who are smart in hopes that a salvation occurs, and they will also become smart.
