The Green Field I Can't Run Through Anymore

I gave you my hands when yours were tired,
my time, my dreams, my burning fire.
I bent my pride just ti make you stay,
loving you more with each passing day.

But while I was busy choosing you,
you were choosing someone new.
I build us hope from broken parts,
you broke your promise—and my heart.

Now I wonder what all this meant,
the love, the loss, the years I spent.
Was I too much or not enough,
for a love that gave up when things got tough?

I've been striving every day, in every way,
just to satisfy you someday.
Sacrifice was never all I could do,
I'd even catch ten thousand stars for you.

It felt like a blazing dagger in my back,
a sudden force ready to crack.
Pressure building, trapped inside,
like a rock about to split wide.

I used to love running through field of green,
they reminded me of you—so clean.
Now that same garden stings my sight,
as hatred slowly fills the light.

That green I once called peace and home,
now stains my eyes wherever I roam.
What used to heal now cuts me deep,
memories I never asked to keep.

I gave you love with open hands,
you answered it with broken plans.
I stayed honest, I stayed ture,
while lies kept gwoing around you.

Still I carry what we were,
even if it's painful, event if it hurts.
Loving you was never wrong—
trusting was truly wrong.

Poet's note: I wrote this poem as requested by my friend, who is a senior of mine. He loves his girlfriend so much that he was willing to do anything for her, but they broke up because of cheating. My friend wanted to vent out his anger and the little love that was left in his heart, so he asked me to write the poem for him instead. This poem talks about willingness and the sacrifices we give for someone we love, even when it hurts. It also shows that if you truly love a person, sometimes all you can do is accept what happened.
