So This Is Love.

I walked home with you today
You told me about your day
And I smiled.
You still can’t stand people
And make fun of me for
Contradicting you.
I still can’t get over the things
You embody. Or, if we’re at the topic,
Your body—
Being so close to me, hands
Brushing against each other
I can’t help but blush.
No matter how hard I try,
My stomach is a terrarium of butterflies
But you just smile.
I wish you’d ignore me, keep more
More and more distance from me
Because I’m falling for you.
I should know better than to offer you
My heart on a silver plate, still
I say, “Please continue.”

Poet's note: Love is scary, isn't it? At least for people who have built a huge wall around their hearts and dulled their feelings, because everyone they loved only hurt them. It's better to push away people before they push you, am I right? However, here comes a person who melts your icy fortress with just the curling of their lips. They are too good to be true and even though you want to push away, you can't, your mind is hazy whenever they speak, physical contact makes redness creep onto your cheeks and no matter how bad you'd want to deny it, you want more, you need more. So, you say "please continue".
