Raped

She's been raped again,
Incestuously by her own,
In the raw; without disguise,
By those into whose hands
She's been entrusted

How can these wily mashers
Oversee the passing of justice.
Or these agelong venal ogres
What should be free and fair.
How could rape this dirty be.

Will these wingless bedbugs
That have our very blood gulped,
During our stay-awake in bedtime
All our dreamed hope to fly allow?
How could rape this dirty be.

Come! come oh delayed rain!
Pullulate to quell our shriveled earth.
The most dangerous animal ever
Is a cruel smiling leader.
How could rape this dirty linger.

Poet's note: a poem of lament that symbolically decries the unjust and undue influence of election rigging in Nigeria particularly by the commissions entrusted to foster free and fair elections.
