I've spent my entire life striving
to get out of the shadows.
Don't wear black at my funeral,
please!

One has been in and out of
many difficulties.
Trying to be God's clean lamb,
yet nevertheless triumphing over failure.

Please understand
what I mean when I say
Don't wear black to say
your final farewells to me.

Because I'm on my way to a land of rest,
I beg that you instead Escourt me with
pure hearts, no tears, and tenderness.

Please send me your best wishes
for happiness and serenity.
Please provide me eternal smiles.
For I shall be free of difficulties and temptations.
The tears have stopped.

Please don't wear black to my funeral;
instead, dress as snowflakes.

Poet's note: This poem is for my friends and family. it is a request I would like them to do. I don't want them to be sad and soggy instead gladly bid farewell to me. The feeling expressed in this poem is a sadness that turns to hopefulness, gladness, and celebratory. this poem means there is the hope of relief after death.
