The Visitor

The boulevard beyond have many
properties,
The peregrination of the soul
Agony of the kiths and kin
Though the soul’s destination
undefined,
The wide and narrow awaits you.

All mortals scared of death
Though every home has felt
her stings,
Her visits is without an invitation
Souls weeping and walking.

Corpus lifelessly laid like a log
log of wood,
The ears deaf
Mouth mute to the yearnings
of the world,
Inscription boldly inscribed
“we were once like you”

Death mocks the living
Mortals mourn the dead
Death a debt indebted by
all mortals,
Why walk shoulder high?

The cadaver committed to
the mother earth,
Mouth smells like a rotten egg
Maggots feast on the helpless
carcass.

The world is but a sojourn
Judgment awaits all mortals
Souls reap what they sow
Your deeds speak for you.

Poet's note: This poem is dedicated to all humanity. It's explores the theme of vanity of life. It exposes the journey of the soul after death, and the souls destination which is heaven or hell. One's deed on earth will surely tell his/her last destination. It is true that virtually every home has felt the stings of death. Man is dust and dust all humanity must return. So man needs to reflect on his life to make amends before it is too late.
