The Celebrant

A Day of reminiscence
Tears and smile
Her only companion
Conceived from the right
side of the blanket.

Kiths and kins
Patiently and impatiently
Await her Queenistic arrival
Her tears permeated
The labour room.

That was many decades ago
Her mother nursed and nurtured her
Under the umbrella of grace
She fought and conquered
Her ancestral Agwu.

A day graciously ordained
To celebrate a celebrant
She is beautifully created
Endowed with milk of human
kindness.

Her dark complexioned skin
And her luscious legs
Qualify and quantify her beauty
Her humility is hereditary.

Though a descendant of Abram
From the bloodline of Anthony
First from birth, she is
Bravery runs in her vein.

February ordained
To remember her womb escape
The Enugu nation celebrates you
Anthony's family cherishes you
Saint-Jude adores you.

Poet's note: This is a Birthday Poem dedicated to Queen Shalom Anthony. The Poet personae celebrates her womb escape and rejoices with her for adding another year to her age. She is a unique woman with a milk of human kindness. Her Birthday comes up on 18th February every year. This year 2020 marks her 25th year. She will live to eat the fruits of her labour. Cheers my love.
