Lovey Dovey

Feelings are fickle
They are always changing
They come and go,
Like waves in the ocean.

They are up, and down
And they seem to be controlled
By some unseen forces,
That we don't understand.

Why do I feel the way I feel?
I am lost in thoughts,
My emotions wrestle with my wits
How did I get here?

Thoughts are fuel to feelings
My feelings are deep-seated and long-standing,
The flesh fumes in anger,
As your thoughts whisper to my heart.

Just wish we never met
I am on a crossed road
Enslaved by my emotion.

Poet's note: This is a love poem that expresses the feelings that comes with love. The Poet Personae sees love as unstable feelings that are fickle. This feeling of affection for someone is confusing because 'they come and go/ like the waves of the sea'. The Poet Personae sees this emotion that comes with love as been controlled by 'some unseen forces' that are beyond man. The Personae further raises some rhetorical questions that are left for the readers to answer. Though he later come to realize that 'thoughts are fuel to feelings' and he wondered why his feelings for the woman he love isn't stable. It could be possible that the Personae is addressing this poem to the woman he loves so dearly and unfortunately for him the woman isn't responding to his love. The Poet Personae concludes by stating the obvious that he wish he never met her. His feelings are keeping him on a crossed road. This poem was written on 12/8/2020, and is dedicated to all humanity who might find themselves on such crossed roads. This poem evokes the feeling of sadness, lovesick, rejection, and pity.
