Taught Love

Remember who taught you how to love,
A lesson that can never be undone,
Through my guidance you've become strong enough,
Now you can face the world and all that comes.

You know I'm the one who showed you how,
To open up and let emotions flow,
The courage I gave you, no one can take away,
You'll never forget what you've been taught today.

I'm the one who taught you how to care,
About yourself and others everywhere,
You know that you can be the best,
Let go of fear and pass the test.

When you feel like giving up,
Just remember what I taught you love,
It's a gift that will never end,
And I'm the one who taught you that again.

Poet's note: I mentioned my first love, but I never mentioned that I was her first love to. I taught her how to love because at the time we met she were having personality problems. I could say that I was her savior, but it will sound like every other love story. Instead I say:" Remember who taught you how to love"
