I Am Gone, Or Am I

My little feet will
No longer tread lightly
As I follow you along,
Nor will they leave
Their prints in the sand.
My heart may no longer beat,
But it will never stop loving you.
I have crossed safely
Over the rainbow bridge, and
My new adventure has begun.
I know you will cry for me
And that is expected.
I know you will miss me
As I will miss you.
The void that is within you
Cannot and will not be filled
And that is a good thing.
The ache will be painful
As it should be, and forever.
But there is a solution.
It is a simple one.
When you look at
A beautiful flower,
Or gaze from the shoreline
At the mesmerizing sea,
Or stand beneath the moon
Under a dark but starlit sky,
Or at any other time,
Think of me and I will be there.
When you are fast asleep,
I will come to you
In your fleeting dreams
And will lick your face
And lay down beside you
Giving you my warmth
And surrounding you with my love.
So now you can understand
That I will never leave you.
Even if I am not beside you,
I am there always in your memories.
Think of me and I will come
From the deep recesses
To be with you at any time.
You will feel my love
And you will hear my tiny foot steps.
For though I am gone, I’m really not.
