Where I Come From

Here I am today
Standing in front of my mirror
But I will never forget where I come from

I was once a hobo
Having no food to eat
Having no clothes to wear
Having no shelter to sleep at

I know the thunderstorm rains
I know sleeping in pipes
I know all dustbin foods
I know the smell of wet soil

The pain of sleeping hungry
The pain of praying all night
The pain of being kicked off
The pain of being teased
I know them all

The pipes given birth to me
They took care of me
Given me a shelter over my head
Given me a proper home

Today I am a young woman but I will never forget where I come from
