An Angel In The Night

In my dream was a beautiful woman,
Resplendent like the effulgence of the yellow mellow moon smiling on the horizon.

The night was gross-dark and foggy;
Drab and lonely, shrank my ribs.
My desire like coal flamed into the wild unknown!

In my dream was this beautiful woman,
She lay by the bedside unclad
And her countenance like angels descending.
Wild desire sprang in me
Like sparks of awoken thunderbolts!

If I'd never touch you tonight,
Shall I not restless be?
If to behold an angel I find my life no more,
In heaven I'd find us in the aisleway.

O beautiful angel,
Let's dance the dance of love,
And dance into the wild of ecstasy!

Shall I taste the fruit of your love,
I shall never hung again.
Or sip of your orange walls,
Shall I thirst no more!

Just when the living water sprang outer me,
Oh! I awoke from my dream.
