The Good Swimmer

There stands a man in great misery.
Hit by pain, sorrow and penury.
Solace he took in the bottle,

And snoozed in great oblivion.
In dreamland he landed,
Rejoicing and excited.

But long did the merry not stay,
For there came the good swimmer,
Staring at the soaker’s face, next day.

It then dawned on the wino
That sorrow and misery
Do not drown in the bottle.
