Choices

A dog given life will not be much happier
Than if it was doomed and enjoying the rain
Yet still every night I sit and I wonder
If maybe a choice could be repeated again.

I watch and I stare at the black shiny luster
Of inky decisions made filled with pain
“Perhaps they were wrong,” I sit and I wonder
Of choices I’ve made, and would make again.

Poet's note: I wanted to talk about regretting choices you've made in the past. They've shaped who you are today, and though you might wish you had made a different choice, you would probably make the same decision if whatever happened happened again.
