My Teacher

Who taught me how to read
So fluently like a grammarian
Who watched me closely like a guard
Until I became a great scholar

When I was in my tender age
Who held my little naive hands
And trained them like a soldier to write
Now I can write proficiently

Who stood beside my school desk
And watched me carefully like a mentor
Who made sure I did all my homeworks
And came out with good grades

Oh! Her painful lashes
How can I forget her painful lashes
The indelible lashes of correction
Which brought me to normalcy when I derailed

How can I forget her commitment
Her punctualness to work
Her diligence to service
Who made me what I am today

I pray that God with you will be
And keep you wherever you may be
To see more glorious days ahead
And make your efforts on me wasteless
