Ghana At 65

What's there to celebrate?
If Ghana is a man, he'd be retiring by now
What can it boast of after retirement?
Indeed, 65 years of nowhere

Indeed, 65 years of nowhere
The annual salary of a teacher is between 18,000 to 19,000 which is less than someone's monthly salary without allowances.
What's there to celebrate?

65 years of nowhere
The ordinary man on the street who earns barely
Nothing at all at the end of the month pays his bills and buy fuel for his car or motor while an MP with 12,000 a month goes around without buying fuel and paying no bill what's there to celebrate

65 years of nowhere
After three years of curriculum change still no textbooks for the poor kids of public basic schools
What's there to celebrate

65 years of nowhere
After 65 years of Independence, we still can't process our cocoa into any finished product
What's there to celebrate

65 years of nowhere
What's there to celebrate when the discovery of oil looks more like a curse than a blessing?
What's there to celebrate?

65 years of nowhere
What's there to celebrate when MPs resort to the exchange of blows and snatching of ballot papers in a democratic parliament
What's there to celebrate

65 years of nowhere
What's there to celebrate when roads constructed by illustrates years ago still have more value than those constructed by the current engineer of high standing?
What's there to celebrate?

Lord help us
To be able to resist oppressors' rule
And continue to fight to build our country the better way for the country deserve better.
