Last Laugh

A thief wakes up every morning thinking of ways to have a laugh
He brings up strategies to make him end up with a laugh
Stealing and pilfering just to get enough to make him laugh
Putting so much pain and misery to others whilst going home to laugh
At a certain point he meets a stubbing block and doesn’t know whether to laugh
He looks for ways to overcome his obstacles so he can go home and laugh
He gets caught by the law and faces the severity of it and by this time, he can’t laugh
He ends up behind bars or even executed, now tell me who got the last laugh?
