Await Not

A bird is out to snort,
The sun has a good short.
Rivers run smooth,
Summers do soothe,
And calm, and fair,
Is the wind out there.
My heart is at rest,
But my mind is first.
Lest the earth and sky spring,
And clouds and thunder bring;
This joy, I will not lose,
Nor spring back to blues.
But if earth should fade away,
With the waning of the day,
I am grown, and have been,
A many things, I have seen.
The joy, and the pain
The drought, and the rain.
And thorns, and leaves,
A smile that greaves.
No donkeys bray,
No lie I say,
And this I know,
That you must know:
Love, is an upshot.
Love, and await not.
