The Comet

Comet!
It approaches, it approaches, it approaches!
Night holds its breath, the stars move aside.
The eye sees it, it comes, it comes, it comes!
Fire in the dark, a wound in the sky.

Comet!
It rises, it rises, it ascends!
Dragging a tail of ancient ice.
It climbs, it climbs, it bursts open!
Light wells up, it does not end!
It grows, it grows, it soars on high!

Comet!
It spirals, it spirals, it rises!
A long road bent around the sun.
It goes to the north, to the north while circling!
It surges, it surges, it climbs the ridge!
Between worlds, it cannot be stopped!

Comet!
It rises greatly, it rises greatly all of a sudden!
Thousands of years, then — there!
It leaps, it leaps into the sky!
It rises with power, it rises with power!
It springs, it jumps, it bursts forth!

Comet!
It overflows! It leaps! It ascends!
Stories wake, tides pull, hearts beat faster.
Everything is rising, it does not stop, it does not stop!
It approaches! It comes! It is here!
