I Wonder Why

I wonder why Africa is a deserted valiant mainland!!
I stare everywhere and all I glimpse is misery
Coast of dreams, aspirations and victory

I wonder why virtuous enemies were victimized
Brisk scourge our gleamed cleave they terrorized

I wonder why our generation will be known for nothing
When the sun rises we inhabit the sky masked with bats blood
And swaddled on cloak of olden blight

I wonder why the trials and tribulations
Land that has raised many nations

Sometimes I wonder why the valour seems to have withered
Thou feeds the universe yet neglected I’m bothered

I wondereth not for I am black
And my heart is white and not dark

Poet's note: This poem is written in remembrance of the nature and gravity of racism and apartheid oppression that African children underwent on 16 June 1976 in SOWETO, and are still going through. It expresses how they were dealt with as a result of standing and speaking out for their rights. Africa is continent which is known for abundant natural resources but were exploited by our oppressors. The same people turned around again to disadvantage us because of our black color... The poem expresses a feeling of grief and anger to a n extent in stating that 'I wonder why our generation will be known for nothing' It means a lot to me because it can be a weapon to put an end to pre and post historic existence of RACISM
