Forgotten Message

The first serving term is over,
And those cheats are back again,
This time with another story,
It has merely been a term,
Since you never saw them for those five years,
They are even not ashamed of themselves,
After asseverating you,
Many assurances which were never fulfilled,
With a sweet melodic voice,
To hypnotise you again,
And you find yourself casting a vote for them,
Even after all the pain you've gone through,
They have gone back to the parliament.

The time you will realize they have played fool of you,
It will be too late,
And there will be no one,
To put on the blame,
Had you been really careful,
Everything would be totally different,
When you are just struggling from hand to mouth,
They are only making million of cash,
By illegal means and corruption,
They don't even think of the citizens,
They have forgotten what they were sent for,
But it is never late to turn aback,
If they only changed their mindsets,
They could then change the world.

Poet's note: Politics, many say it's a dirty game. This poem mainly goes to politicians who are the representatives of their citizens. Many often tend to forget what they are expected to do and fail to fulfill the promises made by them. I am really sad to see how poor African leadership has affected growth and development.I still believe that for politicians,it is never too late to change for the better.
