Turn The Tide

Gilbert Sordebabari

Once I was the spark of discord,
A child whose missteps lit the flame,
Neighbors' quarrels, parents' strife,
Each time my name bore silent blame.
But in the stillness of my heart,
I found a whisper, soft yet clear:
"Be the reason they find peace,
Turn the tide, dissolve the fear."

No longer would I be the cause,
No longer would I fan the fire;
I vowed to tread a gentler path,
To lift my home a little higher.

And so, the days began to change,
With every step, a silent plea:
Let my deeds bring pride, not shame,
Let love grow strong because of me.

The echoes shifted, joy replaced,
The quarrels now a distant sound;
My parents' names on others' lips,
In tones of praise, respect profound.
I learned the power we possess,
To turn our stories round again;

The key lies in our hearts and minds,
Our actions wield the strongest pen.
So, hear me now, all those who doubt,
The path is yours to carve anew;
The storms within can calm their roar,
And skies can break in clearer blue.
